Creativity is a mindset, not an inherent gift. Often times we limit ourselves by thinking "I are not an artist" or "I can't draw" or "I'm not creative." I hear these statements all the time from young people, who've never even experienced an art class. These statements are simply a judgement and can be alleviated by thinking of creativity as a mindset and a lifestyle. Art can be found in our everyday lives - how we approach problems, how we mend and repair broken things, how we appreciate music or art, or an artful conversation with a friend. This creativity mindset is what I try and instill in my students. An artist has to be infinitely curious, always exploring and willing to take risks with the understanding that we are imperfect beings. It's not about how "good" you are at art, but rather how much you follow your own intuition and inner voice. We are all artists.
