In denying death, we also deny life. 3/8th of an Inch is an intimate portrait of the filmmaker’s complex relationship with her mothers that tackles key issues of the nature/nurture debate and brings to light the filmmaker’s own fears about mortality and the nature of impermanence. It is a careful balancing act: sifting through the past, preparing for an uncertain future, while also acknowledging the present moment. In this film, we learn to come to terms with a lifecycle that includes both birth and death, grief and loss, joy and contentment - with the underlying goal of gaining a sense of equanimity around these emotional, physical, and spiritual states.
